"Howie" was born in Williamstown, Pa., on Aug. 1, 1931, the son of Raymond and Lillian (Clauser) Miller. He was educated in Williamstown schools and graduated from the Williamson School of Technology in Media, Pa.
Howard was an electrician by trade and joined the Coast Guard after college. He was also employed at several other companies over the years, including HC Anderson, David Brown Tractor and Cummins Diesel.
In 1974, Howard moved to Maine and was employed at Daniels Co., working on the construction of the S. D. Warren Somerset mill. After completion of the mill, He later joined S. D. Warren as an electrician, where he retired in 1993.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Carolyn Girton, all of Pennsylvania; and a stepson, N. Jeffrey Bickford, of China.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Miller, of Waterville; two daughters, Sharon Miller and her husband, Keith Divoll, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Carolyn Miller and her husband, Jerry Dupuis, of Gardner, Mass.; a son, Howard Miller of Athol, Mass.; three stepchildren, Tina Thomas and her husband, Michael "Micky," of Yarmouth, Robbe MacKenzie and her husband, William "Bill," of Pembroke, N.H., and Michael Bickford and his wife, Barbara, of China; a sister, Dorie Birnheimer, of Pennsylvania; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial will be at a later date at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery on Grove Street, Waterville. (Morning Sentinel 12/1/2010)
