Irene Abigail (Trafford) Litchard, 94, a longtime resident, died Wednesday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Leonia, N.J., she moved to Springfield as a child, and was graduated from Classical High School. She received a bachelor's degree from Smith College in 1925. She attended the First Church of Christ, was the oldest member of the Longmeadow Country Club, and was an 11-year director of the Springfield Girls Club. She also was a past president and director of the Junior League. Her husband, Corydon K. Litchard, died in 1990. She leaves two daughters, Martha L. Lamar of Lawrenceville, N.J., and Mary Jo Litchard of Longmeadow; a son, Corydon K. Jr. of Longmeadow; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be Saturday morning at the church, with the burial in Longmeadow Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours, and Dickinson-Streeter Funeral Home of Springfield is in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Day Nursery, 103 William St., Springfield, 01105.
