Sarah was born likely in the year 1779, tho' most sources have her being born in 1777. Sarah was likely born in Shinnston, present day West Virginia, because her parents are said to have located there in 1778. Sarah was born to Levi Shinn, founder of Shinnston, West Virginia, and Elizabeth Smith Shinn. Sarah first married my 6th great uncle, Samuel Wamsley, on 29 March 1796, they had three children. Sarah's second marriage was to my 5th great uncle, Jedediah Waldo, on 19 July 1817, they had five children.
