Joseph Washington Fennel was the brother of James Seth Fennell (Born July 28, 1836 South Carolina-Died December 5, 1887 South Carolina) (Civil War/CSA veteran, Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, Hampton County, S. C.), Laura Ann Fennel/Allen (Born December 24, 1844 South Carolina-Died July 25, 1917 South Carolina)/(Mrs. James M. Allen), Henry Medicus Fennel (Born September 11, 1847 South Carolina-Died April 28, 1899 South Carolina) (Civil War/CSA veteran) and Elizabeth Jane Fennel/Black (Born October 20, 1850 South Carolina-Died September 15, 1912 South Carolina)/(Mrs. Wiley S. Black). Grandson of Henry Fennel (Born Ca 1774/1780-Died 1835 South Carolina) of Barnwell District, South Carolina (Barnwell District, S.C. Will of 1835). Joseph Washington Fennel married Harriet(Hattie) M. Thomas (Born 1855 South Carolina-Died 1896 South Carolina). Joseph Washington Fennel and Harriet(Hattie) M. Thomas/Fennel were the parents of (1) William Henry Fennel (Born 1872-Died unknown), (2) Lillian Magnolia(Maggie) Fennel/Brant (Born 1874-Died unknown), (3) Minnie Belle Fennel/Black (Born 1877-Died 1944) (4) Angus Warren Fennel (Born July 29, 1878 South Carolina-Died November 28, 1938 Richland County, South Carolina), (5) Donie E. Fennel (Born unknown-Died unknown) and (6) Rhoda Susan Fennel (Born unknown-Died unknown). All three Fennel brothers, James Seth Fennell (1836-1887), Joseph Washington Fennel (1839-1896) and Henry Medicus Fennel (1847-1899), were Civil War/Confederate States of America veterans of South Carolina 3rd Calvary Regiment/Company D, and surrendered at Augusta, Georgia in 1865. Joseph Washington Fennel (Born 1839 South Carolina-Died 1896) and Harriet(Hattie) M. Thomas/Fennel (Born 1855 South Carolina-Died 1896 South Carolina) are buried in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery/Fairfax Cemetery, Fairfax, Allendale County, South Carolina. Also buried in the Joseph Washington Fennel and Harriet(Hattie) M. Thomas/Fennel Burial Plot are the graves of their grandchildren, William R.
