Rev. J. D. Huling, whose parents were Daniel and Lydia (Burlingame) Huling, was born in Willett, Broome Co., N.Y., May 17, 1827. In September 1852, he was married to Mary W. Moore.
In 1870 he was ordained, and labored from 1870 to 1875 in connection with Rev. J. B. Fast in evangelistic work in the Cherokee Co. Quarterly Meeting (Q.M.) KS. In 1877 he organized the Caney church and with Brother Fast they organized the Montgomery Q.M., and also the church in Nevada, Kan. Increasing infirmities prevented his holding a pastorate, but he still preached as opportunity offered and strength permitted.
