St. Clair - Mrs. Gladys M. Dart, 82, of 2009 North River Road, wife of philanthropist Harry A. Dart, died Sunday in Mercy Hospital, Port Huron, after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 29, 1892, in Detroit. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Mendelson.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a life member of Mu Phi Esilon Sorority, am member of First Friday Club, Detroit Women's City Club, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, League of Catholic women, executive vice president of Harry A. and Gladys M. Dart Foundation, co-trustee of Aaron Mendelson various charitable trusts, and executive vice president of Dart Investment Corporation.
Mrs. Dart and her husband are well known for their philanthropy. They were honored for their philanthropy in 1967 when the Marydale Center for the Aged, Port Huron, was opened. A wing of the Center was named in their honor.
Mrs. Dart is survived by her husbank; two sons, Bernard E. Kuhn, St. Clair, and Robert F. Dart, Los Angeles; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Ellen Barrett, Los Angeles, and Mrs Barbara Jane Alter and Mrs. Peggy Murphy, both of Palm Springs, Calif.; 25 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
The remains are in L. C. Friederichs and son Funeral Home, where visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 NS 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Cheurc. Rev. Karl D. Hubbl, pastor, will officiate. Entombment will be in Holy Seputcher Mausoleum, Southfield.
A Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
