Born at Amberg on April 24, 1928 he worked on his father's dairy farm and bought the farm, selling out in 1978. He worked as a carpenter in construction until his retirement. Leon was the Amberg Town Asessor and a former member of Immanuel Baptist church at Wausaukee where he was a deacon there for many years. He married Mary Kay Anglemeyer in Crivitz on March 14, 1952.
Survivors include four sons, Dennis and Donald both of Amberg, Darryl of Union Grove, Ill., and Douglas of Marinette; two daughters, Susan (Ron) Hall of Jacksonville, FL and Tammy Heyse of Hartford, WI. Also surviving are two brothers, Sydney of Milwaukee and Duane of Elgin, Ill.; five sisters Fae Hallfrisch of Marquette, MI., Joyce Conley of Coleman, Fl., Mildred Lindgren of Stephenson, MI, Helen Johnson of Rock-Away-Beach, MO., and Arleen Messenger of Amberg. He had 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harland and Lester.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 10 at the Immanuel Baptist church in Wausaukee with funeral services held at 7 pm with Rev Gene Eslinger and Rev. David Allen officiating. Burial will be at the Amberg Cemetery on Thursday at 10 am.
