Winnie C. Hill (Holden)
Was born near Fairport MO. in 1818 She married Chester Hill in June of 1845 They had 3 children. Chester Jr. 1847
Annie 1850 George 1853 The Worked a Farm near Green City MO. During the Civil War Her Husband Chester enlisted with Co. G 4th MO. Cav. He was 1st Sgt, He would come home from time to time during the war to plow the fields or bring in the crops, After the war they lead a uneventful life of being farmers. Winnie Passed away on Feb. 3rd 1903 at age 85. Since her husband had to go to the Confederate Veterans home in Higginsville MO. Her body was removed from the Green City Cemetery and reburied in the Local Higginsville Cemetery so Chester could go and visit her from time to time until his own death at 92 in 1913. He was buried in the Veterans Cemetery only a few miles from were Winnie rests today. The Photos of Winnie & Chester were taken in Green City MO in the 1890s and are Courtesy of the Hill family in that city. The Photo of Chesters grave was taken in Sept. 2001 As soon as I find Winnie's grave I'll put a photo of it right here.
