After an illness of nineteen days, Aaron Conger, father of one of our prominent business men, W. H. Conger, died at his residence on Marshall St., Tuesday morning from pneumonia, which was the result of grippe. Mr. Conger was born in Geneseo County, N. Y., Jan. 12, 1819, and came to Michigan when 16 years of age. At the age of 28 years he was married to Miss Marian Norton, of London, Ont. Mr. conger was a thorough business man, the early part of his life being spent in farming and afterwards he was engaged in the hotel and variety store business. Being somewhat out of health he retired from business and wishing to live in a healthful place he came here on his son's recommendation lat May. By his kind ways, cheerful, congenial manner and interesting conversational powers he has made many friends in the east as well as here, and his straight forward honorable character has made his name as a business man. Mr. Conger died on his 73rd birthday, leaving a wife and none children who are, Mrs. A. G. Bishop, Lansing; Mrs. John Jones, St. Clair; Mrs. E. M. Kent; Mrs. Julia E. Sprague and Mrs. Lewis Harris, of Rome, N.Y.; Mrs. John Shaw, Camdern, N.Y., A. L. Conger, Kalamazoo and W. H. and Miss Zolia Conger, of this city. He also has three brothers living, one in New York and two in Armada, Mich. The bereaved wife and family have the sympathy of all in sustaining the loss of a loving husband and father. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock, Rev. E. O. Smith officiating, and the body interred in Oak Grove Cemetery.
