Source: Columbia Missouri Herald, 20 June 1902.

Mrs. Hattie Phillips Bennett, aged about 60 years, died at her home in Oneida, New York, Monday night, June 16, 1902. Mrs. Bennett was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Phillips and was born and reared in Columbia, Missouri, where she is well remembered as a lady of great personal attractiveness. Her death is learned with deep sorrow here. She was a devoted member of the Episcopal church. She was married to Walter A. Bennett when a young woman and she is the mother of three children living: Mrs. Jesse Smith, of Hamilton, New York, and Misses Katie and Edith Bennett, who live with their parents. Mrs. Bennett has two brothers living: J. Rollins Phillips, of Columbia, and Henry Phillips, of Berlin, Nebraska. She had lived in New York state about eighteen years. Noticeable about her was her loyalty to her old home and her last request was to be buried in Columbia. The remains are expected to arrive Friday and after a funeral service conducted at the Episcopal church by Rector Henry P. Horton, the interment will be in the Columbia cemetary.
