Margie Greer Johnson of Boone, N.C. Margie Greer Johnson, 71, of Boone, N.C., formerly of Creston, N.C., died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Glennbridge Health and Rehab Center in Boone. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27, at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Creek Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 26, at the Boone Family Funeral Home. Margie was born in Watauga County, N.C. on Monday, August 14, 1939 to the late Fonce and Lola May Greer. Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Calhoun and husband Mike of Lansing, N.C., Lin Bove Fannon and husband Luke of Avondale; a brother, Charles Greer of Mountain City, Tenn.; four sisters, Betty Comer and husband Donald, of Elkton, Md., Edna Wallace of Mountain City, Tenn., Jean Neal of Shady Valley, Tenn. and Mary Robinson of Mountain City, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Tim Bove of Avondale, Miranda Bove of Avondale and Chelsey Calhoun of Lansing, N.C.; a great-grandson, Dylan Doyle of Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Johnson, a brother, Roger Greer and a sister, Iva Lee Mahala. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, c/o Rev. Rob Brooks, 295 Chestnut Creek Road, West Jefferson,NC 28694 Boone Family Funeral Home of West Jefferson, N.C. is in charge of these arrangements.
