Jacob G Meyer a well-known citizen of the east end of this county died at his home on Saturday last after a brief illness. He had gone to the stable to do the feeding & dropped over & died.
He was born in Lebanon County when a few years old his father removed to Pine Creek where the deceased sent the first 35 years of life as a schoolteacher, musical instructor & farmer.
He was the youngest son of George Meyer who owned the grist & sawmills.
He served one term in the legislature & then became a partner with H A Mingle in the mercantile business.
Mr. Meter was married twice first to Henrietta Furst of Salona to them were born 2 sons & 3 daughters. His second wife is the widow of Aaron Dutwiler.
The deceased was a staunch & ardent member of the Reformed Church & for many years a the superintendent of the Sabbath School.

Jacob descended from Christopher Meyer who came from Germany Jacob spent most of his life in Penns Valley. He began teaching music at the age of 15 years. Jacob was a lover of music all his family were musicians & he composed a number of musical compositions.
He was temperate in his habits, unselfish in his devotion to his friends & greatly esteemed.
