She was born on July 4, 1933, in Charlottesville, to the late Marshall and Florence Poindexter Ellis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Palmer and Ruth Pittman; and four brothers, Louis, Ernest, John and Alvin Ellis.
Audrey was the owner and a teacher of Weequahic Day Care and School.
She is survived by one son, Michael Reeves of Atlantic City; four daughters, Cathy Holman and Christopher, Charmaine Reeves, all of Orange, Willette Reeves and Arthur Williams of Bethesda and Alveta Evans and Thomas Evans of Baltimore; one aunt, Rosa Graves of Orange; a devoted friend, James White of Culpeper; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010, at the Nazareth Baptist Church in Orange with interment to follow at the Westview cemetery in Orange. Pastor Gene T. Lee will officiate.
Viewing will be held at the funeral home from 12 until 8 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2010, and also from 10 a.m. until time of service, 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010.
