DULUTH, Minn. -- Bernard P. Anderson, 73, a resident at KeenAgers in Wakefield, Mich., died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, in St. Mary's Medical Center Hospice in Duluth.


He was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Ironwood, Mich., son of the late Axel and Ellen (Thompson) Anderson, attended Ironwood schools, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School. He then entered the U.S. Marine Corps on Jan. 7, 1959, serving in Okinawa, and was honorably discharged as a corporal on Dec. 14, 1962.


Following his discharge, Bernard returned to Ironwood where he was employed as a cabinetmaker at Schult Mobile Homes for several years.


He was a former member of Ironwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1823.


Surviving are a sister, Marilyn Baker, of Crystal Falls, Mich.; two nieces; a nephew; and numerous cousins.


Out of respect for Bernard's wishes, cremation has taken place.


Private services will be held.


Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.


Arrangements are with McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
