Fred was the third of ten children born to Patrick and Harriet Evaline (Vandeveer) Gallagher. He married Anna Alma Anderson and they were the parents of four children: Elsie May, Patrick Ivan, Wanetta Edith, and Norwood Albin.

Fred O. Gallagher, 98, a resident of Chehalis the past 41 years, died Monday at a Chehalis hospital.
He was born July 1, 1874, in Fort Rigley, Minn. He homesteaded in Cleveland, N.D., in 1901 for seven years where he married his wife, Anna, on Jan. 16, 1905. They moved to Salem, Ore., and from there to Chehalis. He was a steam engineer for the railroad. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chehalis.
Survivors include his widow, Anna, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Elsie May) Young, Centralia, and Mrs. Norman (Edith) Rasmussen, Chehalis; two sons, Pat, Los Gatos, Calif., and Norwood, Chehalis; a sister, Mrs. Ella Clemens, Mason City, Iowa; a brother, Charley, Cleveland, N.D.; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. John McLaughlin officiating. Interment will gollow at Claquato Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brown Mortuary Service, Chehalis.
