Beloved wife of Oliver Kent Wilcox. Sarah was the sixth of eleven children born to William and Eliza McMahan Berry Purvis.
Sarah married Isaac Harness on Jan. 25, 1860. she had four
children with Isaac Harness:
Lucy (1860-1866), Willie (1864-1867), Mary Elizabeth (Kemplay) (1865-1947) and Claudius Zach (1868-?).

The family moved to Reno County, Kansas sometime around 1870. Tragedy struck in 1872 when Isaac drowned attempting to cross a river.
On September 4, 1875, Sarah married Oliver Kent Wilcox, a local farmer from Michigan. They had four sons, and together with Sarah's two children had quite a houseful.
Sarah died on December 17, 1891
