Florence Elizabeth Shaffer was born in Troy Mills on August 4th 1891 to Elias Shaffer Jr. and Laura Henrietta Smith. She married Mark Leslie Baty on October 22nd 1913 and they were blessed with seven children. Helen Mae, Minor Leslie, Evelyn Mary, Wayne Shaffer, Paul Jackson, Nadine V and Ronald. Florence died at her home three miles south of Troy Mills on May 17th 1940 due to heart complications from Rheumatic Fever she was 48 years of age.
