He was born December 25, 1877, in the home in which he lived at the time of his death. His parents were the late Ferdinand and Tina Goltz. He was one of a family of nine children.
He was married to Miss Marie Lusk December 6, 1906, and she, and one sister, Mrs. Martha Henning of South Haven are his sole survivors besides nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was engaged in the lumbering business in the early days of the county's history, and was superintendent at Jones and Green's lumber mill for many years. He operated the Goltz Grocery in Big Rapids for 21 years.
Funeral services will be held from the Rogers funeral home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Highland View cemetery.
