I have found nothing to place him at Woodland or in the Civil War. He is not listed in the online records for Woodland or the WPA and no Iowa death certificate has been found for him. Someone by this name did serve in the 129th and 27th Illinios Infantry regiments as the original owner indicated and applied for a pension but it appears that it was denied and he died in 1889 and is buried in Illinois.
