Sauber of the Chico Enterprise, died yesterday morning at 9:30 o’clock at the family home three and a half miles north of Chico, her death following an illness of several weeks, during which time all that could be done to save her life and relieve her suffering was afforded.

Deceased, whose maiden name was Ruby Howland, was a native of Indiana, where she was born October 1, 1829. When a child, her parents removed from Indiana to Illinois, and from there to Wisconsin. She was married to John Sauber in 1853.

During the Civil War, her husband served in the Union army, and in consequence, she was left to care for the home and three children. There brothers also served in the army.

Mrs. Sauber was the mother of nine children, seven of whom are living, they being as follows: Mrs. I.M. Speagle, Mrs. C.G. Boller of Chico; Mrs. Charles Pickett and Lorinda M. Sauber of Klamath Falls, Or.; Mrs. Mont Hurlburt, of PIttville, Shasta county; E.S. Sauber, at present of Stirling City and H.H. Sauber of Chico.

The Sauber family moved to California in 1879, settling first in Tehama county. About five year ago they moved to the family home near Chico. Mrs. Sauber was a cultured Christian woman in name and fac. For six years prior to her death, she was blind, but endured her affliction patiently. Some years ago she contributed numerous articles for household journals, she being possessed of considerable literary ability. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Chico.
