CHOTEAU - Ennola "Nola" (Campbell) Baggenstoss, 88, died of natural causes Wednesday at a Choteau medical facility.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home in Choteau. Her funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau, with burial in Choteau Cemetery.

Nola was born to Ardis and Virgil Campbell on Nov. 1, 1922. She lived in Bonner, Mont., and attended Missoula County High School, where she graduated valedictorian of her class. She earned a degree in home economics from the University of Montana.

On Dec. 30, 1942 she married Rollin N. Baggenstoss. Following Rollin's return from World War II, they moved to Power, Montana, to manage the post office and to farm his father's homestead west of Power.

Nola taught home economics in the Power schools for two years in the early 1960s. She and Rollin made a home in Power until moving to the Fair-field Bench to work an irrigated farm as well as the homestead. Finally, they moved to Choteau, where Rollin was a rural mail carrier.

Following Rollin's death in 2004, Nola lived at Skyline Lodge, and most recently the Teton Medical Center.

Nola was a bright, energetic, hard-working woman. She was first a loving wife and partner to Rollin. She worked hard making their farm a success. She embraced the life on the prairie and the people who lived there. She had a fondness for animals and the challenges of making a living from the land.

Nola was civic-minded and enjoyed working for the local Democratic Party. She felt an obligation to serve her community and state by serving on many boards and committees.

She was generous in giving to her church and charitable groups in Choteau. She wanted to leave the world a better place. Nola was first and foremost a classy lady who lived an honest life doing the right thing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollin Baggenstoss; her parents, Ardis and Virgil Campbell; and a niece, Sondra Creighton.

Nola is survived by her nieces and nephews: Joan (Frank) Pollari of Guelph, Ontario, Keith Campbell of WY, William (Judy) Opitz and Jim (Patty) Opitz, of Helena, Mary (Brian) Opitz-Luyt, of Plano, TX, and Lynette (Cliff) LePiane, of Missoula; and special friends, Shirley Fitzgerald, of Helena, and Ross and Gretchen Fitzgerald, of Fairfield.

Memorials in Nola's name are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau.
