Died of injuries suffered in rescuing the Blessed Sacrament from St. Philip Neri church fire in Rochester NY.

She was helping the Reverend George J. Weinmann in the rescue effort. He perished from the same fire.

Rochester Bishop Fulton J. Sheen said this about her that day:

"Martyrs belong to our own times and in most unexpected moments. Sister Lilian Marie gave her life in helping Father Weinmann save the Blessed Sacrament from fire. Greater love than this no woman hath."
