Bertrand Lycurgus Pearsey was born February 28th or 29th, 1887, Westland, Indiana, to George and Mary (Boblett) Pearsey.1 "B.L." attended the Rushville schools and married Mary Ethel Sheets on August 17, 1906. She was born July 21, 1886 and went by her middle name. B.L. Pearsey was known as the jokester of the family.

B.L. Pearsey worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a dispatcher and ticket taker for over 50 years. His job took him many small towns. He resided in North Vernon, Indiana in 1908 and Elizabethtown, Indiana from 1916-20. In 1920, B.L. worked as a telegrapher for the railroad in Columbus, Bartholomew County, Indiana. He moved to Austin, in Scott County, Indiana by 1930. B.L. was a charter member of the Lions Club of Austin, April 26, 1939, where he spent the remainder of his life.

In Austin, B.L. served as station agent for the Pennsylvania R.R. He was a Mason and Ethel a member of the Eastern Star. B.L. died on January 10, 1954. Ethel Pearsey passed away on January 31, 1979. Both are buried in the Austin Cemetery.
