Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Throckmorton Cemetery with the Rev. Roland Slater officiating, directed by Community Funeral Home of Vernon.

Mrs. Coleman was born in Throckmorton County. After high school, she taught in Elbert. She graduated from the Physicians and Surgeons Hospital Training School for Nurses in Austin in 1922 as a Registered Nurse. Later, she received her license as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She worked in Throckmorton, Haskell, Albany and Breckenridge, and as a private duty nurse. She was appointed supervisor of nurses at the Haskell County Hospital in 1940. She authored a nutrition booklet and was instrumental in the development of the Licensed Vocational Nurse program in Texas which had its basis in the training programs she implemented in the local hospital to alleviate the nurse shortage during World War II.

She married Dr. William C. Coleman on May 23, 1926.

Survivors include two sons, William Cowles Coleman Jr. and Dr. Rogers King Coleman; one daughter, Patty Coleman Kincheloe; one sister, Leila King Coleman; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
