Chalmer C. Shultz, 92, of Winterset and formerly of the Hayesville and Hedrick areas, died Tues., Dec. 13 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

He was born Jan., 8, 1914 in Keokuk County the son of John and Clara Ritter Shultz. He was united in marriage June 2, 1934 to Ruth Miller in LaPlata, Mo. He spent most of his life in Hedrick and Sigourney and had lived in Winterset for the past several years. Before their move to Winterset, he and his wife spent the winters in Florida. A farmer for most of his life, he was a member of the Hedrick Lutheran Church and had operated a gas station in Hedrick for many years. He was also a driver for the late Dr. F. C. Perkins of Hedrick. He was an avid sports fan and followed Iowa State Cyclone football.


He is survived by his wife; three sons, Ronald Dean of Lakeland, Fla., Duane Arthur of Minnetonka, Minn. and Marvin Glenn of Winterset; eight grandchildren; three step grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rex and Frederick; two sisters, Ruth Morrow and Viola Miller; and an infant brother.


Funeral services were held Fri., Dec. 16 at the Fremont Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Carlson of the Winterset Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick.


Fremont Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
