Western New Yorker--Mrs. William D. Wiseman was born in Canaan, Columbus County, New York on December 9, 1820, the daughter of Elijah and Lydia Patterson Hatch. She died February 4, 1893 in Gainesville.

WESTERN NEW YORKER, Thursday, February 9, 1893: Mrs. William D. Wiseman was born in Canaan, Columbus Co., NY on December 9, 1820. She died in Gaineville, Wyoming Co., NY on February 4, 1893. The deceased was the daughter of Elijah and Lydia Pattison (this paper's spelling) Hatch. She was the last, save one, of a family of nine children. A brother, Alanson Hatch, who resides in Columbus county still survives her.
She married William Dennis Wiseman, September 27, 1857 and for over 35 years found her truest earthly joy in being a loving and faithful wife. Proving her love by almost martyr fidelity and care for several years, during which time her husband has undergone extreme suffering and has been many times nigh unto death.
She was converted in childhood and united with the M. E. church. She leaves three step children who knew her only as "mother", Mearis Wiseman of North Gainesville, Mrs. Warren Ballard of Painesville, Ohio, Mrs. Peter L. Smith of Castile. They were present with their families at the funeral, Tuesday afternoon, at which Rev. Otis A. Dike of Warsaw officiated, assisted by Rev. Mr. Bell of Gainesville.
