Death of Christian Hanson

Christian Hanson died at his home on Sixth avenue east, this city, Monday morning May 5.

Mr. Hanson was born near Christiana, Norway, January 29, 1835. He came to America with his parents when seventeen years of age, the family locating in Wisconsin. One year later they came to Spring Valley, Minnesota. Mr. Hanson was married when twenty-five years of age to Miss Mary E. Sample. The family came to Alexandria thirty years ago and this city has since been their home. In 1862 Mr. Hanson enlisted in Company I of the First Minnesota Calvary, and served to the end of his enlistment. He was honest, industrious man, respected by all who knew him. He had been in poor health for some time, death ending his sufferings. He leaves, besides his widow, five grown children. They are Mrs. Clara Reed, Slayton Minn,; Mrs. Cora Gutermute, Petaluma, Cal,; Allie B. Hanson, Drake, N.D.; W.G. Hanson, Warren, Arizona, and Alvin Hanson, Jessie, N.D.

The funeral took place from the home yesterday afternoon, Rev. W. Barham officiating. The internment was in the Geneva cemetery. The pall bearers were Robert Peacock, George Fox, J.M. Renner, Andrew Purdon, Mr. Howard, and Mr. Olson.
