Born to Luca and Teresa Antonacci Matarelli , he married Joan P. Kelch on Nov. 3, 1951, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Donetta L. Jenn and Sharon L. Ward; one son, Donald E. Jr.; two grandchildren; three brothers, Silvio, Luke and Frank; and two sisters, Jenny Kaufman and Irma Barden.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

A Caterpillar Inc. employee for 35 years, he retired as a tool and die maker in 1974.
