METZGER, Magdalena (Mrs. Martin) - Peacefully, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at Chateau Gardens, Elmira. Magdalena (Bowman) Metzger in her 96th year of Elmira. Beloved wife of the late Martin Metzger (1950). Devoted mother of Sally and Isey Weber of Elmira, Martin "Marty" and Barb Metzger of Conestogo, Harold "Harry" and Donna Metzger of Waterloo, Lena and Rod Uttley, Martha and Don Jewitt all of Elmira. Loving grandma of Tony (Colleen) Weber, Andy (Sandra) Weber, Kim (Don) Gareau, Richard (Donna) Metzger, Steven Metzger, Tamara (Mark) Allan, Cindy (Don) Brubacher, Holly Uttley (Adam Good), Mandy (Alan) Jewitt-Dyck, Martin Jewitt, Robbie Jewitt (Erin Klassen) and to her 11 great-grandchildren. Sister-in-law of Grace Bowman, Lydian Kappes and Abram Metzger. Magdalena was the last surviving member of her family having been predeceased by her parents, Martin and Magdalena (Brubacher) Bowman; her eight brothers, Israel, Enos, Levi, Solomon, Tobias, Emmanuel, Martin and Tilman and her five sisters, Rebecca, Amanda, Catherine, Mary Ann and one sister in infancy. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. At 9 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2007 transfer will be made to the Elmira Mennonite Church for funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ruth Anne Laverty and Pastor Steven Janzen officiating followed by interment in St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery. In her memory, donations to Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
