Helen L. White, age 79 of Centerburg, died Sunday afternoon at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

She was born on March 24, 1931 in Mount Liberty to the late Theodore and Maude Slane Dowden. A lifelong Centerburg resident and, homemaker who enjoyed antiquing. A member of the Centerburg United Methodist Church and former member of the Centerburg Eastern Star Chapter.

To Helen, her family meant everything and Sunday dinners with a sirloin tip roast was a time for the family to all sit down together and enjoy her delicious dinner. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren's sporting events. Her front yard was a playground for all the kids in the neighborhood, where they enjoyed all kinds of sports.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years: Chalmer White Jr. and they were married August 11, 1950 in Centerburg; son: Mike (Nancy) of Marysville, Pat (Taffy) of Centerburg, Chris of Centerburg; daughters: Susie White of Centerburg, Belinda "Lindy" (Todd) Seckerson of Hilliard, Kelly White of Hilliard; grandchildren: Kacy, Coby, Gretchen, Nicole, Jacob, Brendan, Caleb, Austin; 2 great grandchildren; brother: Harold "Jake" (Mary) Dowden of Centerburg; sisters: Josephine Workman of Cambridge, Bonnie Parnell of Mount Vernon.

Preceded in death by brother: Herbert Dowden; sister: Ruth Hulse.
