Alfred J. ‘Hoss' Gawlik, 80, of San Antonio, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010. He was born to David and Frances Gawlik on Jan. 22, 1930, in Cestohowa.

Alfred married Emerance Titzman on Oct. 20, 1953, in Fashing. He was a member of the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and the St. Margaret Mary's Men's Club, served in the U.S. Army, and had resided in San Antonio for 58 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Carolyn Gawlik; his sisters, Tillie Oringdorf, Madelyn Bunch, and Teresa Szalwinski; and his brothers, Stanley Gawlik, Sixtus Gawlik, Archie Gawlik, and Adrian Gawlik.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Emerance Titzman Gawlik of San Antonio; his sons, Gerald and wife Gayle of San Antonio, Albert Gawlik and wife Lori of San Antonio, and Ronnie Gawlik and wife Dawn of Spring Branch; his daughters, Nancy West and friend Ted Tejeda of San Antonio and Susan Kaufman and husband Scott of Bergheim; his sister, Proxy Adair of San Marcos; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A rosary was recited Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. in the St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the church, with Father Mariusz Lazarek officiating.

Interment will follow in the Cestohowa Cemetery in Cestohowa.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Gray, Scotty Gray, Kevin West, Albert Gawlik, Ronnie Gawlik, Kenneth Gawlik, and Joey Lux.
