Chief Petty Officer (Ret.) Fred T. Crull, U.S. Coast Guard, 73, of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Manor Care Health Services in Carlisle. He was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Carlisle and was a son of the late Oscar E. and Verna (Laughery) Crull.

Mr. Crull retired in 1971 as a radioman from the United States Coast Guard after more than 20 years of service. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.

After his retirement from the Coast Guard, Fred was employed by Carlisle and Rubber Co. and C. H. Masland & Sons until retiring in 1992.

He served one term as township supervisor for Lower Frankford Township. He was a life member of both VFW Post 477 and White Circle Club, and also a member of the Cumberland Goodwill Fire co., all of Carlisle.

Preceded in death by sister, Evelyn Smith, and brothers, Joseph and Arthur Crull.

Survived by his wife of many years, Suzanne B. (Smith) Crull; daughter, Courtney Jo Crull of Wilmington, Del.; brothers, Lee and Jack Crull; sisters, Mabel Mackey, Ruth Stambaugh, Erma Finkenbinder, and Elma Woods, all of Carlisle and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors provided by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Ritner Highway, Carlisle. There will be no viewing or visitation. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle is in charge of the arrangements.
