Born and raised in New York, she began her career in public relations in the theater. Moving to Los Angeles, she headed publicity for American International Pictures and then served for 10 years as Executive Vice President of Motion Pictures at the prestigious Rogers & Cowan agency. She later held the post of Senior Vice President of Publicity for MGM. Over the course of her remarkable career, she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the loyalty of her clients. Her love for her profession showed in her zeal for everything she did. Bringing more than 35 years of experience to bear, she approached her job with enthusiasm and spirit that endeared her to her clients, and everyone with whom she knew and worked.
She was shot to death in a drive-by in Beverly Hills as she was driving home.
Two weeks after the shooting the police went to the apartment of ex-con Harold Smith after receiving a tip he may have been involved in Chasens murder. Smith opened the door and promptly shot himself before police could question him.
