Caroline V. Althoff, 94, formerly of York, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at the Palmyra Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Althoff. Mrs. Althoff was born on January 30, 1912, in York, a daughter of the late William and Catherine (Brickner) Brasch. Caroline was a registered nurse. She was a graduate of Jerkins Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, Md., and graduated Frederick Community College, as an RN and with an associate of science degree. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. A visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at St. Mary's Church, 309 S. George St., York. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin as 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Robert M. Gillelan, Jr. as the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Caroline is survived by two sons, Joseph R. Althoff Jr., Canton, Pa, and Timothy M. Althoff of Thompsontown, Pa.; two daughters, Joyce I. Althoff of Palmyra and Mary R. Marshall of Camp Hill; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Catherine Rupp of Lancaster and Naomi M. Schiding of York. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 309 S. George St., York, Pa 17401. Arrangements are by the John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., York.
