Benjamin's first marriage on July 1, 1828, was to Mary Anderson (b. 12 April 1812-d. 16 Sept. 1846 [no gravesite found]). They had 7 children: Jemima, John (1832-1842); Phebe, Peter, Sara Jane, Mildred (23 Jan. 1843-10 March 1843 and Andrew. By this time the family was living in Morgan County, Ohio. He then married Susannah McCaslin 9 Sept. 1849. She died 13 Jan. 1886 but no gravesite can be found.
