Mrs. Bessie Deal Hollingsworth, age 95, died Monday at the Statesboro Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was the daughter of the late Johnny and Mozella Smith Deal. She was a graduate of Statesboro High School and received her teaching certificate from Georgia Normal School. She was a member of the Middleground Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Hollingsworth was preceded in death by a son, Ray Hollingsworth.

Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty and Wallace Newton and Annette Akins, all of Statesboro, and Jewell and Larry Shaw of Jesup; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Lavinia Hollingsworth and James and Ida Hollingsworth, all of Statesboro; a daughter-in-law, Willene Hollingsworth of Statesboro; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Emit Deal of Statesboro; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren also survive.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Steve Taylor and Elder John Brannen Purser officiating. Burial will be in the Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
