"Henry Allen Altizer was born on 11 December 1852 at Floyd County, Virginia. He was the son of William Ratcliffe Altizer (1826-1863) and his wife Nancy Epperly (1831-1916). He first married Mary Ferrel in Roan County, West Virginia on 1 January 1882. He had a daughter, Osis A, b. Dec 1881, and son, Farrel, b.Dec 1883. Mary died about 1894, and Henry remarried Julia May Hoskins, daughter of Morland W. Hoskins and Harriett Mace, on 28 March 1895 at Calhoun County, West Virginia. Henry was a farmer. He and Julia had been married for only five years. Together they had Eulela “Lella”, a daughter in 1898, who did not survive childhood, and a second daughter, Dona W., born about 1900, died circa 1941. Henry A. Altizer died in 12 August 1906 at Arnoldsburg, Calhoun County, West Virginia, at age 54."
