Elsa Kempel was born on February 8, 1924, in Stirum, ND. She married Lester Robinson on July 19, 1945. They lived in Lisbon, Fergus Falls, Jamestown and Wahpeton. She enjoyed many summers at the cabin on Long Lake, MN.
Elsa raised her family in Wahpeton, ND, where she also loved playing bridge and socializing with her many friends. She moved to Fargo in 1987.
Elsa married Harlan Rude on October 18, 1998. They loved to travel, visit their kids, and spend their days together.
Elsa's favorite hobbies were playing cards, Tri-ominoes, other games, and watching Jeopardy on television.

Elsa is survived by her son, Lynn (Michelle Bonneville) Robinson, Seattle, WA; daughter, Maria (Kevin) Bjerken, Shakopee, MN; stepdaughters, Nancy (Jon) Galle, Midland, TX; Linda (Dean) Olson, Belton, TX; Lois (Alec Kohut) Rude, Burke, VA; Colleen (Paul) Rommesmo, Amenia, ND; seven step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted (Hazel) Kempel, Gwinner, ND; Emmanuel Kempel, Gwinner, ND; sisters, Lydia Rotenberger, Gwinner, ND; Francis Fadness, Moorhead, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND.
Funeral service: Thursday, February 3, 2005, at 2 PM, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
Visitation: Wednesday, February 2, 2005, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
