Services for William Thomas Cooper, Sr., 67, of Odessa are scheduled for 11 A.M. Saturday at Sherwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Hiser officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cooper died Wednesday at Medical Center Hospital. He was born February 21, 1924, in Park Springs. He married Ella Mae Mayes August 19, 1968 in Monterrey, Mexico.
Mr. Cooper first came to Odessa in 1951 where he was a Western-Swing musician and formed his own band, The Louisiana Ramblers. He had lived in Fort Worth from 1966 and returned to Odessa in 1987.
He was a retired Barber. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II, participating in such military campaigns as the Invasion of Saipan; Guadalcanal and Bougainville. He was awarded the Purple Heart and was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, William Thomas Cooper, Jr., of Whitewright and Richard Medlin of Fallon, Nev.; three daughters, Charolette Behrendt of Odessa, Cathy Foster for(of) Burleson and Linda Johnson of Odessa; and nine grandchildren.
