Walter Clinton Chittum, 73, a retired officer of the Lexington office of the First National Exchange Bank, died suddenly Sunday morning at his residence in Fairfield. He was the husband of Beulah Fix Chittum. A native of Fairfield, he was born Sept. 29, 1903, and was the son of the late Charles N. Chittum and Nora Roberta Hunt Chittum.
Mr. Chittum retired in 1968 as assistant cashier of the Lexington bank. He had been associated with the bank, and with its predecessor bank, The Peoples-National Bank, for 43 years. He was a member of Fairfield United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a foster brother, Jesse T. Weeks of Raphine.
Dr. Thomas H. Grafton conducted the funeral service yesterday at Harrison's Funeral Home. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, VA.
