Davis — Funeral services for Marie Tigert will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov 16, 2010, at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Davis with Brothers Vernon Carr and Billy Staggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery.



Marie was born April 2, 1930, in Konawa to James Amos and Mattie Marie (Ballmann) Martin. She died Friday, Nov 12, 2010, in Oklahoma City at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 10 days. Marie and Billy Ray Tigert were married on Feb 14, 1948, in Gainesville, Texas. He preceded her in death on Jun 23, 1998. Others preceding her in death include her parents; one grandson, Shannon Tigert; three sisters, Eva Farley, Ouida Nash and June Martin; as well as three brothers, Tommy, Jack and Billy Martin.



Marie was a natural giver. She gave of her time so freely to so many people, especially when it came to children. Early in their marriage, Bill and Marie began opening up their home to many children in need. Besides raising her own three children, Marie took the time and effort to provide a good home to 13 foster children, all while operating an in home daycare. During the 20 years of running the daycare, she met the needs of some 82 local children. In her later years, Marie worked as a sales clerk at Cooper Auto. After Bill retired from truck driving, he and Marie owned & operated Jerry's Drive In of Davis for eight years.



After retiring, Marie enjoyed sewing, making quilts, cooking, reading and gardening. Of all the enjoyments in her life, the greatest was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marie will forever be remembered as a hardworking, loving mother, grandmother and friend, who was never afraid to share her thoughts or her feelings with anyone.



Survivors include her daughter Mona Ozbirn and husband, Paul of Davis; two sons, Randy Tigert and wife, Ginger of Hennepin, and Jim Tigert and wife, JoLynn of Sulphur; four grandchildren, Bethia Tomlinson and husband, Brandon, Jeremy Tigert and wife, Angie, Jamie Tigert and Leah Tigert; four great-grandsons, Tyler and Mason Tomlinson and Dylan and Trevor Tigert; as well as, one sister, Imogene Jolly; and two brothers George and Jerry Martin.



Serving as pallbearers will be Pete Haines, Louie Harmon, Roy Rogers, Chuck Cooper, Randy Moore and Eddie Tomlinson. Honorary bearers will be Frank Duncan and Junior Thomas.
