ARCHER CITY — Ruth Tarr Moore, age 93, of Archer City, Texas, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010, in an Olney hospital.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Archer City with Roger Deerinwater, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Aulds Funeral Home.

Ruth was born March 31, 1917, in Archer City to Lewis Herbert Tarr and Sarah Emma Light Tarr.

She graduated from Archer City High School in 1933 and then Draughon's Business School in Wichita Falls. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Murphy Bros. Chevrolet for many years. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church since she was ten. She taught Sunday School since age thirty-five and also was the director of the Sunday morning service at the Archer Nursing Home in 1976 until she was eighty-six. She was chosen Outstanding Senior Citizen of Archer City in 1984, and served as president of ANAG, Inc. for several years. She was a foster grandmother for children with disabilities at the Archer City ISD for many years. She loved the people of Archer City. Ruth enjoyed reading, especially the bible, sewing, quilting and other needlework.

She and Ben B. Moore were married September 15, 1940, in Archer City. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1983.

Survivors include one son, Dale Moore and wife, Annette of Dripping Springs, Texas; four grandchildren, Steven, Robb, Nathan, and Joel Moore; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, David Lee Moore on March 4, 1946, and Danny Moore on November 29, 2008.
