John C. Burris, 82, of Decatur,died at 12:23 a.m. Thursday (May 22, 1997)in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Brintlinger's Funeral Home with visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Memorials: Grace Baptist Church.
Mr. Burris was born in Alpha, Ky., on Oct. 10, 1914, the son of Benjamin Harrison and Mattie Perdue Burris.
Mr. Burris was a member of Grace Baptist church. He had worked as a custodian for Decatur Public School District 61 and had also worked for General Electric Company. He married Isadora Rommerskirchen on Sept. 25, 1937. She preceded him in death July 29, 1990.
Surviving are his sons, John Phillip and wife, Linda of Dahinda, Harry C. and wife, Connie of Decatur; granddaughters, Angelia Joos of Chatham, Michelle Hart of Decatur; grandsons, David Burris of Mishawaka, Ind., Phillip Burris of Metamora; two great grandchildren; sisters, Jessica Kuns and Dora Pagallo, both of Paso Robles, Calif.; special friend, Loretta White.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, one brother and four sisters.
