Mary Ann (Sanders) Balfour, 88, passed away June 20, 2010 in Tulsa, OK. She was born at home in Tulsa, OK July 6, 1921 to Adda Dayle (Ward) Sanders and Bryan E. Sanders.

She was a Christian and became a member of the downtown First Christian Church, Tulsa.

Mary Ann graduated from Central High School, Tulsa, in 1938 and earned a B.S. degree in business administration from The University of Tulsa in 1942. She was in several professional and honorary organizations at T.U. and was a loyal member of the kappa felta sorority where she also served as president.

She married Carlton James Balfour, Jr. in 1946. in 1946 in Tulsa, OK. They were married 23 years and raised tow daughters. The family was transferred to the Kansas City area and lived in Overland Park, KS for eight years and then returned to Tulsa.

Mary Ann worked for several Tulsa oil company/research centers as an executive secretary and later ran the family business, Eagle Tent and Awning Company/Eagle Fabco in Tulsa, until she retired. After retirement she re-entered the work force at her Alma Mater as the administrative assistant to the dean at The University of Tulsa Law School. Faculty and staff enjoyed her weekly column she wrote at the T.U. Law School titled "Balfour's Ballyhoo's". She retired for a second time in 1995. Her hobbies included gardening and playing bridge.

Survivors include daughter Barbara A. Derby and son-in-law Walter L. Gene Derby, Owasso, OK and grandson Donald B. Derby, Nashville, TN, and daughter Beverly N. Kraemer, MD and granddaughter Jessica M. Kraemer, St. Louis, MO., sister-in-law, Jane Dilks, and two nieces, Kansas City, MO, cousins and friends.

Donations may be made to Meals On Wheels, C/O Faith Lutheran Church, 9222 N. Garnett Rd. Owasso, OK 74055. A pribate family gravesite was held at the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Arkansas, where her ashes were returned to the earth. Many of her Cherokee family memebers are also buried there, including her parents.
