A veteran of World War I, in which he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Field Artillery, Mr. Wilder, 72, was the third of five children born to Violet Blair Martin Wilder of the Martins of "Willowbrook" and General Wilber Elliot Wilder, (winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor in the Indian Wars. Predeceased by his parents and his elder siblings Throop Martin Wilder and Sylvia Wilder Gascoigne, his monument states that he was also the "Loved brother of Cornelia and Violet", who survived him. When his funeral procession passed Auburn's Town Hall en route to the cemetery, "Old Wheeler" rang out from its bell tower in honor of his military service. GRAVE PHOTOS: Nikita Barlow
