ALTON 'TIP' WILFRED THOMPSON
Alton "Tip" Thompson was born January 31, 1926 in New London, the son of Martin & Helga (Monson) Thompson. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in New London, and attended school in New London. He later married Florence Olson and became members of the Paynesville Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946, and was a member of the American Legion Post #271 in Paynesville. "Tip" was a heavy duty equipment mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Marlene) Theel of Paynesville; two sons, Ronald & Gary, both of Paynesville; four grandchildren, Julie, Roger & Pam Theel,of Paynesville, and Jeffrey Thompson, also of Paynesville. In addition there are two brothers still surviving, including Marvin Thompson of Green Acres, Washington, and Hubert Thompson of New London, as well as one sister, Mrs. Robert (Genevieve) Barber of Maple Grove. There are several nieces and nephews still living as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
