He was born April 18, 1915, in Clarence, a son of the late Ignac and Anna Harmonik McClusick. He married Elizabeth Ann Leso, who survives.
A career military man, he served in the Army from 1940 until his retirement as a master sergeant in 1964. He served during World War II and in Korea from 1952 to 1953 and from 1960 to 1961. He served as a bodyguard for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt during the Tehran Conference in 1941. He logged enough miles in the military to go around the world twice.
Before his military career, he worked for the Cherry Run Coal Co. in Clarence from 1937 to 1940. After the military, he worked with the Army Corps of Engineers as an inspector at the Raystown, Tioga and Beech Creek dams.
He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks 1600 and American Legion Post 245, all of State College.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Celestine "Sally" Hoy of West Bend, Wis., and Susan Therrien of Appleton, Wis.; a son, George M. McClusick Jr. of State College; three sisters, Ann McClusick of New York City, Dorothy Smith of Bellefonte and Mildred Clark of Emporium; four bro-thers, Joseph, Edward and Michael McClusick, all of Clarence, and Andrew McClusick of Bridgewater, N.J.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
