The Weik family came from Germany, living for a while in Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Missouri, before settling in St. Clair County, Illinois. Charles and his older brother George lived most of their lives in Freeburg. After her first husband's death around 1856, their mother Maria Weik married Joseph Schwarz.
Charles married Elizabeth (Lizzie) Reinneck (March, 1860-Dec. 13, 1918) on October 21, 1884, in St. Clair County, Illinois. The old Weik farmhouse still stands in Belleville.
