"In researching Queens and Cooks in Cleveland County, North Carolina, a CSA headstone for Meredith Queen was located behind the "Caser" restaurant in a cow pasture. The headstone was placed in a grove of trees. The trees have died and the stone had fallen over. The only information on the stone is "Meredith Queen Co. C. 1st NC Art. CSA". It's suspected that this stone belongs to Meredith Queen born about 1837, and died 1 January 1864 in Richmond, Virginia. He died from injuries received in Civil War. He married Sarah Mode. This would make him the first son of John Queen and Cynthia Goins and the grandson of Meredith Queen and Jane Newton."
