Andrew Bowman, father of Mrs. Charles M. Borchers, died Monday at his daughter's home in Chicago where he went to visit during the Christmas holidays. He then was not in robust health, his chief handicap being his weight of years. He was unable to return to Decatur and grew weaker constantly until the end came Monday morning.
For more than 50 years he had farmed in Oakley and Whitmore townships and in those neighborhoods especially enjoyed a large number of friends and was well-liked.
The surviving members of his family are his daughters, Mrs.Charles M. Borchers, Decatur, Miss Leona Bowman, Mrs.Emma Fisher, Chicago, Mrs. Myrtle Miller, Charlotte, N. C. The late Mrs. U.C. Boyer of Oreana was his daughter, 25 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, twin sister Mrs. Margaret Connor of Greenburg Ind, and four brothers, John Bowman, S.Bend, Reuben, Los Angeles, Samuel and Gideon of Copemish Mich.
Funeral services will be at the Church of the Brethren Wednesday on the 59th anniversary of his marriage. His wife died last April. Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery.
